She hails from Thottumkal family which is a Syro-Malabar Catholic Nasrani family spread mainly in Thodupuzha, Muvattupuzha and Pala. Her father is a businessman and her mother a surgeon. Asin did her schooling in Naval Public School and St.Teresa's Higher Secondary School in Kochi. She then secured a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from St. Teresa's College in Kochi.
